SENDING DIGITAL IMAGES TO KEENART MEDIA
At KeenART Media, we create a lot of large canvas and paper art and photographic prints. One of the best ways to ensure your reproduction looks as stunning as you envision is to supply us with a high resolution digital file. The higher the resolution, however, the larger the file size.

When placing your order online, you are limited in the size of file you can upload, but worry not! We offer a number of different ways to get your big, beautiful image to us, so we can turn your digital file into a printed masterpiece!

POSTAL SERVICE
When you're uploading images to KeenART Media online, the maximum file size is 16 MB. You can email larger files to us through your email service provider. Size limits are usually around 25 MB. Sites like Dropbox and Google Drive allow you to upload your images to a third-party site and send us a link to access them. An FTP client such as FileZilla or Cyberduck lets you upload your image files directly from your server to our server. Though slower and with more chance of damage, you can always mail your images to us on a DVD or USB.

 KEENART MEDIA MAXIMUM FILE SIZE
The first step to placing your online order for a canvas or fine art print is to upload your image. You simply click the "choose file" button, and select your file from your desktop or other folder on your computer.

Due to the amount of space on our server and the length of time it takes to upload a large file, you cannot upload images larger than 16 megabytes. If your digital image is larger than 16 MB, you will first need to upload a thumbnail of your image.

To do this, open your file in Photoshop, other editing software, or Microsoft Paint. Resize the image so it is 1000 pixels or smaller, and save it as a separate file. Then upload this smaller file (it will likely be 2 MB or less) on the Uploads page. Place your order, and mention in the "Notes/Instructions" section that you will be sending a larger file.

Please note: Unless you are ordering a large canvas or fine art print (ie: 36x24" or larger), a file greater than 16 MB is probably not necessary. Resize your image so that it just meets our limit, and we will be happy to let you know if the resolution is too low for a good print. You can mention in the notes section that you have a higher resolution file if required.

The sections below outline the alternate ways to get your digital file to us.

The file size limit for uploading your images to a KeenART Media server is 16 mb

 SENDING A FILE THROUGH EMAIL
If your digital image file is too large to upload through out website, the easiest option is to email it to us after you have placed your order using the thumbnail.

When we've received your order, we will send you a Confirmation of Order, which outlines the products you ordered and the price. You may respond to this email and attach your image file, as long as it's size is below the limit of your email provider. Please ensure your order information (your name and order number) remain in the reply, so we know where your file goes!

ATTACHMENT SIZE LIMITS FOR EMAIL PROVIDERS

Gmail: 25 MB

Hotmail: 25 MB

Yahoo: 25 MB

Outlook: 20 MB

If you use a different email provider, a quick search in Google or the provider's terms of service will tell you the maximum attachment size they accept. Alternately, you can try to attach your file; you will receive an error message if the provider cannot accept it.

Please keep in mind that some email providers may compress your attached files, resulting in some loss of information or detail in your images. If you are concerned about this, consider using the FTP method outlined below. Saving your images originally as TIFs instead of JPEGs may also help.

Pros of emailing images: Email is familiar to a wide range of people, making it one of the easier ways to share images. Most email accounts include enough storage to send and receive a great many files.

Cons of emailing images: The attachment limits are very low compared to other options, so email is not ideal for large quantities or high quality images.

 USING A FILE-SHARING WEBSITE
If your image file is larger than your email provider will accept, you can use a file-sharing website to get your image to us.

File-sharing websites require you to upload your file to their website. You will then email us a link to download your image from that site.

Each file-sharing website has slightly different processes and size limits. You may be required to sign up for a free account before uploading your image.

FILE-SHARING SITES

Dropbox: A free account on Dropbox.com gives you 2 GB of space. This means, if necessary, you can upload an image file as large as 2 GB. Dropbox is useful for file-sharing as well as online, "cloud" storage.

Google Drive: If you use Gmail and try to attach a file larger than 25 MB, you will be prompted to send the file via Google Drive. If you choose to do this, the link to your file will be automatically attached to the email, and we will be able to access it. Google has a preliminary limit of 15 GB, which is shared between Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. Google Drive is useful both for file-sharing and cloud storage.

WeTransfer: You don't need an account to send files up to 2 GB on WeTransfer. Once you accept their terms, you can immediately being uploading files. WeTransfer will notify the recipient that files are available, and also notify you when the recipient has downloaded your file(s).

Other file-sharing programs include OneDrive (available for users of Microsoft Office), JumpShare, and iCloud (for Apple users).

Pros of file-sharing sites: You will have a back-up of all your images on the site's server in case you ever lose the copy on your harddrive. It is easy to create a link and share specific files and folders with specific people.

Cons of file-sharing sites: On some sites it can be complicated to check what you're sharing with whom. Privacy could be compromised (like any third-party site) so store sensitive documents and images with care.

SENDING FILES THROUGH AN FTP SERVER
Another option for images too large to email is an FTP server.

FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol". If you install free FTP client software such as WinSCP for Windows, Cyberduck or Transmit for Apple, or FileZilla for any platform, you can transfer your files directly from your computer to ours.

If you would like to use FTP to send your files, please contact us for our server information. Then follow the instructions below. These instructions are specific to FileZilla. If you use a different program, these instructions may not apply.

  1. Launch the program you installed.
  2. On the top of the application there will be 3 blank spaces where you will enter the host, password and user name provided above.
  3. Click "Quickconnect"
  4. Once you have connected, locate your files from the local site section (left side), and either drag them to the remote site section (right side), or right-click and "Upload".
  5. Wait until your files upload to our server successfully.

Pros of FTP: Your files go straight to us instead of floating around on a third-party server.

Cons of FTP: There are some concerns about security when sending files through FTP. Be sure to research the FTP client you decide to use. This FileZilla screenshot shows the process outlined above.

 SENDING FILES THROUGH SNAIL MAIL
If none of the above methods appeal to, or will work for you, you can always mail us a CD, DVD, or USB drive.

Contact us for our mailing address once you have received your order confirmation. Please make sure you include your full name and order number in the envelope, preferably written directly on the disc.

Once we have received your files, we will contact you to let you know your order has begun processing!

Pros of snail mail: You can send any image file size as long as your disc or USB has enough space.

Cons of snail mail: Can be damaged or lost during transit; takes longer; can be costly.

Send CDs, DVDs or UBS drives through the postal service

At KeenART Media, we want to make the ordering and file-sending process as painless as possible for you. Don't hesitate to ask us about the process if any of the above methods are unclear.

If you have questions about any of our other services or products, don't hesitate to contact us. Our knowledgeable staff is always happy to assist with answers, advice, or suggestions.
