*** About The Alamo: The Alamo, originally known as Misión San Antonio de Valero, is a historic Spanish mission and fortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries in what is now San Antonio, Texas, USA. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, an important event in the Texas Revolution where a small group of Texan defenders fought against a vastly larger Mexican army. Though they were ultimately defeated, the bravery shown by the Alamo defenders created a powerful symbol of resistance for Texas' fight for independence from Mexico, famously encapsulated in the rallying cry, "Remember the Alamo!"
